Maldonado Park, Riobamba

Description:

This Park, which is located in the historic centre of the city, was originally the “Main Square”. On one side rises the Cathedral, while at the center of the park stands the monument to Pedro Vicente Maldonado, the most famous Ecuadorian scientist at colonial times who was part of the French Geodesic mission that determined the center of the Earth or Equator line. On each of the 4 sides there is a small bronze fountain.
