Pumapungo Archaeological Museum (Central Bank Museum)
Description:
This Museum features colorfully animated dioramas displaying the traditional costumes representing the diverse Andean indigenous cultures of the country as well as of the Afro-Ecuadorian groups that live in the northern provinces of Ecuador and the Pacific Coast inhabitants known as “Montubios” (local cowboys). The Ecuadorian Amazon groups are also represented in the displays including some rare tzantza (shrunken heads) from the Shuar culture of Ecuador’s Amazon region.
