Garcia Moreno Street bears the name of one of the most representative conservative presidents of the Republican era in the 19th century. In colonial times, this street was known as the “7 crosses street” since each of the churches or convents along this street have a "Reconciler Cross" between Paganism Inca traditions and colonial religion.
